My mom will be the first one to tell you I've always marched to the beat of my own drum.  I was a happy, active kid with an odd sense of style (some things never change).

Born and raised in Centerville, Ohio, I went to Ohio State and played Soccer on scholarship.  Soon after, I moved to Seattle and went to massage school.  My first job was at a Massage Envy which gave me a ton of experience (and very little pay lol).  Next, I worked at a Chiropractor working with injured patients, often in chronic pain due to car accidents.  I finally opened my own massage business, primarily working with marathon runners and triathletes.  While living in Seattle, I took my first Personal training certification and have worked in that capacity over the years.

At 26, I moved to Florida & took my first yoga teacher training.  I had found my calling. I've taken multiple 200 hour teacher trainings & earned my 500 Hour Certification through the incredible Tiffany Cruikshank & her program, Yoga Medicine.  In November of 2016, I opened my Yoga studio, Little Ocean Yoga.

"Dear Yoga Teacher" is a collection of my thoughts & experience throughout years of working with the body, teaching yoga and studying anatomy.

Yoga is an incredible practice, but the yoga world is overflowing with nonsense and misinformation (aka bullsh*t).  If my blog posts inform you, make you laugh, or offend you in anyway- then I am fulfilling my purpose.

500 Hour Yoga Medicine Teacher

Yoga Alliance Certified (meaningless except I paid some money)

My mom taught me to be kind.  This is probably my most important training. (My mom is the coolest, kindest, most loving soul on this planet.  I'm so lucky to be her daughter.)

My dad taught me to be tough & to get up no matter how many times I get knocked down.  He taught me to be brave and go after my dreams.  My father died in December of 2012.  Miss you every day dad.  #daddysgirlforever #31
